Ductwork air leakage testing

What is duct leakage testing? Duct leakage testing is a way to confirm the manufacture and installation of a duct system has mininmal holes in it to ensure the system runs at maximum efficiency. If this ductwork has lots of holes in it the supply air can leak out before it actually get to the end of the system. Or, the Supply air has to run at a significantly higher flow rate making the system inefficent. Currently in Australia systems runnin at over 3000L/s need to have at least 10% of the duct work tested. This ductwork cannot leak more then 5% of the total flow of the system at 1.25 times the operating pressure at the Air Handleing Systems. If it fails this the contactor has to rectify the leakage untill the system passes.
